Construction Begins for Mixed-Use Community Development in Hickory

 

Neill Grading and Construction (Hickory, NC) and Lat Purser & Associates, Inc (Charlotte, NC) announce mixed-use development in Hickory’s Startown Corridor, Preston Ridge.

 

Phase I of the project represents a $31.6MM investment into the community, and will feature a multi-tenant commercial building and 172 luxury apartments.  

 

“This entire corridor is exploding with development right now.  Connecting US70 to the new NC16 from downtown Charlotte is the higher end Trivium Corporate Center, Preston Ridge, and new commercial, residential, educational and long-awaited transportation improvements.  Startown Road is rapidly coming of age,” says Scott Millar, President of Economic Development Corporation of Catawba County.

 

Phase 1 will include a restaurant, retail, and service businesses. The first phase of multi-family development will include:

 

●        172 apartment homes

●        Pool

●        Full community kitchen

●        Co-work and lounge area

●        Fitness room

●        Yoga room

●        Walking trails

●        Dog wash station

●        Package delivery lockers for residents

 

Additionally, the Preston Ridge project is collaborating with Catawba Valley Community College and the Trivium Corporate Center to create a commercial space for CVCC’s School of Cosmetology, as well as, reserving a portion of the multi-family apartments for CVCC students.

 

“The Preston Ridge Development project is a great catalyst for the future of the Startown Road Corridor.  The college is extremely excited that housing will be available to students with relocation needs directly adjacent to our campus.  Another great asset will be the expansion of our highly rated Cosmetology program that will allow us to serve students and expand program credentialing in all areas of the field”, says CVCC President Dr. Garrett Hinshaw. 

 

The second phase of the project will include an additional commercial building and apartments.

 

Preston Ridge is set to open summer of 2020.
